Delivery executive salary in India

Delivery earnings are quoted as gross monthly figures at maximum hours, which is why the advertised number and the money in your account rarely match. The useful figure is take-home after vehicle costs.

Typical monthly earnings, full-time

• Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru — ₹22,000–₹32,000 gross; roughly ₹16,000–₹25,000 after costs.
• Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata — ₹18,000–₹28,000 gross; roughly ₹13,000–₹21,000 after costs.
• Tier-2 cities — ₹14,000–₹22,000 gross; roughly ₹10,000–₹17,000 after costs.

"Full-time" here means 9 to 10 hours a day, six days a week, including the lunch and dinner peaks. Part-time or off-peak-only work earns proportionally less per hour, not just fewer hours, because incentives are concentrated in the peaks.

What you subtract

• Fuel — ₹3,000–₹6,000 a month on a petrol two-wheeler, depending on city size and distance per order.
• Servicing, tyres, brakes — ₹800–₹1,500 a month averaged over the year. Delivery use wears a bike far faster than personal use.
• Insurance — ₹300–₹700 a month equivalent.
• Phone and data — ₹300–₹500 a month.

An electric two-wheeler cuts running costs sharply and is the main reason riders on EVs keep more of the same gross figure.

What moves the number

• Peak-hour coverage. Lunch and dinner slots, weekends and rain carry the incentives. Two hours in a peak can be worth five off-peak.
• Order density. Central zones with short hops beat outer zones with long ones, even at the same per-order rate.
• Incentive slabs. Most platforms pay a bonus at order-count thresholds. Falling two orders short of a slab is where a day's earnings quietly disappear.
• Rating and cancellation rate. These gate access to the better slots on most platforms.

Questions to ask before joining

• What is the per-order rate, and does it change by distance?
• What are the incentive slabs, exactly?
• Is fuel reimbursed, or included in the per-order rate?
• Am I an employee or an independent partner? (This decides PF, ESI and paid leave.)
• What insurance covers me while riding?

And the constant: never pay a joining fee or security deposit. No legitimate delivery employer charges a rider to start.
