Frequently asked questions

Why does a software engineer offer letter need an IP clause?+

An IP assignment clause confirms that code and inventions created during employment belong to the company. Without it, ownership disputes can arise, especially for side projects.

What notice period is common for software engineers in India?+

Thirty to ninety days is common. Many companies use 60 or 90 days, sometimes with buy-out options; state your policy clearly.

Should a software engineer offer letter be on letterhead?+

Yes. Issue it on company letterhead signed by an authorised signatory, so the software engineer candidate and any future employer can rely on it.
