Training agreements and cost recovery must be reasonable and reflect actual costs to be enforceable. Review this template, especially the service commitment clause, with a legal adviser.

Frequently asked questions

Is a training bond legal in India?+

Courts have generally upheld reasonable recovery of actual training costs for a reasonable period, while penalty-style amounts are less likely to be enforced. Keep the amount linked to real costs and reduce it pro-rata over time.

What is training needs analysis?+

It is the process of identifying gaps between the skills employees have and those the role or business needs, usually from appraisals, manager input and business plans.

Is training time counted as working time?+

Company-required training is generally treated as working time. Optional self-development outside hours may not be, but state the rule clearly.
